A shared responsibility: Bringing the Summit’s goals forward
Our Global Sustainability Summit 2026 reached its final day today, marking the moment where a week of intense exploration and dialogue shifted into a collective drive for action.
With over 350 participants gathered in Bangkok, the Summit represents a collective milestone built on over 30 years of progress.
It reflects not only how far Preferred by Nature has come, but also what defines this moment: five days of focused, sometimes challenging, yet deeply meaningful collaboration among colleagues from around the world.
“Our expectation is reaching its end,” said Peter Feilberg, Executive Director of Preferred by Nature in his closing remarks as the Summit concludes on 27 April 2026.
“We have a lot to process, act on, and carry forward—now it’s about how we move ahead from here.”
Outlining the strategic priorities
The Summit’s internal reflections were deeply enriched by a diverse group of external speakers and experts who joined us in Bangkok.
These contributors challenged us to look beyond our traditional boundaries, bringing fresh perspectives to ensure our strategic roadmaps were stress-tested against global benchmarks and the rapidly evolving needs of the sustainability sector.
During the final session, Hando Hain, our Director of Strategy & Innovation, pinpointed the critical challenges and focus areas that will shape our path forward.
These insights sharpen our Theory of Change, the core logic behind how Preferred by Nature delivers measurable impact.
This direction is deliberate. It is not chosen because it is easy, but because it is the only adequate response to the scale of the global challenges we face. It is grounded in our mission, and we will need to deliver impact efficiently.
“Preferred by Nature is part of the solution. We develop cross-unit approaches to deliver effective solutions for sustainability agendas and supply chains, including climate, carbon, and biodiversity calculations,” said Hando.
While our strategic goals have long been set, today marks the moment they become a reconfirmed and reunified commitment across every level of the organisation.
Keeping the momentum going
A commitment only carries weight when it is realised on the ground. Sustaining the energy built during the Summit now rests on the collective effort and partnership of Preferred by Nature’s global team and our wider network.
This outside-in approach provided us with new tools, while validating the seriousness of our mission and reminding us that while our work starts with our team, its success is measured by the change we drive in the wider world.
Xinxin Zhang, our Regional Director for Asia Pacific, reflected on the scale of the opportunity, “I think it will be a great industrial leap.” She emphasised that success lies in “bridging these high-level objectives that have been concluded in this five-day event with realities on the ground and believing that Preferred by Nature can make change happen there.”
For our partners and stakeholders, the message is one of shared responsibility.
Sandra Razanamandranto, our Regional Engagement Director, stated it plainly, “We are nothing without our partners. We are here to discuss more, to share perspectives and impact externally, to show who we are behind the certification—that we deliver good practices. And most importantly, who we are, and why we are passionate about what we do.”
As the Summit concludes, our direction is no longer just a roadmap; it is a shared identity.
“We are relevant. We deliver impact; from biodiversity outcomes and scaling solutions across supply chains, including in China, to strengthening production landscapes, accelerating climate mitigation, improving client solutions, and ensuring fair value distribution for farmers.”
“And together, we are ready to turn bold ideas into real-world action—understanding today, shaping tomorrow, and driving change for 2028 and beyond,” closed Peter Feilberg.
